Attorney-General recognises over 100 years serving the Pine Rivers community

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine today recognised over 100 years of community service by five local Justice of the Peace (JP) volunteers.

At today’s opening of the new Pine Rivers courthouse Mr Shine presented awards to four local JPs who had collectively volunteered over 100 years of service.

“It is impossible to put a value on the contribution they have made to community development and the well-being of their fellow citizens,” he said.

Mr Shine presented three Silver Service Awards recognising Frank McCaul, Denise Amies and Joy Seiffert for 25 years service, and a Gold Service Award to Joan Kilby for 50 years service.

“These people have provided a vital service to the community and it is important they receive recognition,” he said.

“I congratulate them on reaching these significant milestones and thank all of them for their years of service.”

Mr Shine acknowledged all the 1006 registered JPs and Commissioners for Declaration in the Kurwongbah electorate.

“All of these people volunteer their own time to the community, fulfilling a vital legal function.

“As we move towards the Queensland Government’s Q2 vision to promote volunteering in the community, it is important we acknowledge the hard work of volunteers.

“Volunteering gives Queenslanders the opportunity to give something back to their communities.

“Their contributions to local communities are exceptional and I encourage other Queenslanders to take up the challenge.”
