Shine Announces Appointment of District Court Judge Administrator
Queensland District Court Judge Kerry O’Brien’s appointment as the new District Court Judge Administrator has been approved by Executive Council today.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine said Judge O’Brien will be the first appointment to the position, which was announced earlier this year.
“This is the first time a Judge Administrator has been appointed to the District Court,” Mr Shine said.
“Queensland has had a Senior Judge Administrator in the Supreme Court since 1991 and the District Court Judge Administrator will perform a similar role.”
Mr Shine said Judge O’Brien has been sitting on the District Court since 1989 and during that time has served for a period as President of the Children’s Court.
“A Judge Administrator will help coordinate the handling of cases by Judges and assist the Chief Judge in the day to day administration of the court.”
