Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology
The Honourable Robert Schwarten
MAINTENANCE FUNDING FOR ROMA JUNIOR CAMPUS AND WYANDRA
Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten today announced more than $20,000 in maintenance funding for Roma Junior Campus and Wyandra State School.
“Verandah joists and decking will be replaced to the North East end of Block A at the Roma State College Junior Campus," Mr Schwarten said.
"Rust affected steel posts at Wyandra State School will be either replaced or treated.”
Mr Schwarten said a recent inspection of the schools by QBuild officers identified the need for the repairs.
“I am delighted that funding from the Department of Public Works’ emergency maintenance fund is available to enable these projects to be completed,” he said.
“The work will be completed as soon as possible with every effort being made to minimise disruption to classes.”
Mr Schwarten said the funding demonstrated the Bligh Government’s commitment to properly maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of the community.
“The emergency maintenance fund was developed to complement existing maintenance programs and specifically to undertake projects that arose in the course of the year or that were unable to be completed by the school because of the magnitude of the cost,” he said.
“QBuild, the State Government’s construction and maintenance division, will manage the projects."
