$30,000 FOR MAINTENANCE AT LOWMEAD AND GOODWOOD SCHOOLS

Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten today announced $30,000 in funding for repainting projects at Lowmead and Goodwood State Schools.

Mr Schwarten said a recent inspection of the schools by QBuild officers identified the need for the repainting.

“I am delighted that funding from the Department of Public Works’ emergency maintenance fund is available to enable these projects to be completed,” Mr Schwarten said.

“At Lowmead State School, Block A will be painted externally and the Amenities Block will receive an internal and external repaint. The Amenities Block at Goodwood State School wil be painted internally and externally. All work will include pre paint maintenance.

“The work will be completed as soon as possible with every effort being made to minimise disruption to classes.”

Mr Schwarten said the funding demonstrated the Bligh Government’s commitment to properly maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of the community.

“The emergency maintenance fund was developed to complement existing maintenance programs and specifically to undertake projects that arose in the course of the year or that were unable to be completed by the school because of the magnitude of the cost,” he said.

“QBuild, the State Government’s construction and maintenance division, will manage the projects.
