Long serving firefighters honoured
Over 100 long-serving Fire Service personnel have been honoured in a ceremony at the Emergency Services Complex at Kedron.
Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts congratulated current and former firefighters and other Queensland Fire and Rescue Service officers for their commendable service to the Queensland community.
“Today’s ceremony paid tribute to officers from Brisbane who collectively have contributed over 3000 years to the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service,” Mr Roberts said.
“Eight QFRS personnel were today recognised for 40 years service - a rare achievement in any workplace.
“These officers have dedicated large portions of their lives to helping protect the people and property of Queensland.
“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to present them with the Diligent and Ethical Services Medal in recognition of this work.”
Mr Roberts said the award recipients ranged from the aforementioned 40 year medal winners to those celebrating 10 years service and everywhere in between.
“We have current firefighters, former firefighters, auxiliary officers and Building Approval staff here today.
“All officers provide an invaluable service that is critical to the people of Queensland.”
“Experience is something that you can’t teach, and these officers have it in spades.
“I believe its important to acknowledge the dedication and achievements of our Emergency Services personnel, and I wish all today’s award recipients continued safety and success.”
