Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry
The Honourable Desley Boyle
Workshops offer valuable advice to local Cairns businesses
Next month the Cairns Regional Centre is offering multiple workshops to local businesses, to assist them in managing customer service, profits and cash.
Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Minister Desley Boyle said the Managing Customer Service workshop was a helpful tool for business operators who had difficulty identifying where their customers come from or wanted to attract more customers.
“During the workshop, participants work through the basic customer service principles, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to improve their business’ services to meet customers’ need,” Ms Boyle said.
“This workshop is an eye-opener for businesses that do not have a grasp on their customer service or have a system in place.
“After all, outstanding customer service is a key component in a business’ success. Not only is it economical but the word-of-mouth generated from good customer service is very effective in attracting customers.”
Managing Customer Service costs $44 and is held on 10 September from 5:30-8:30pm in the Boardroom, Ground Floor, Cairns Port Authority Building (corner Grafton and Hartley Street), Cairns.
Director for the Department’s Cairns Centre Darren Cleland said Managing for Profits was ideal for businesses who want to improve their bottom line.
“The workshop caters for new business owners who should know how to monitor their financial performance or business operators who want to take control of their finances,” Mr Cleland said.
“Participants are offered practical exercises to help them understand the key financial elements of a small business and will learn about factors critical for financial success, presenting them with greater control over their operations.”
Managing for Profits costs $44 and is on 17 September from 5:30-8:30pm.
Mr Cleland said the Managing for Cash workshop on 24 September (also $44) was another worthwhile workshop to attend.
“Managing for Cash is designed for new business owners who should know how to financially manage their business and business operators who want to effectively manage their cash resources,” he said.
