Smart women in West Queensland region shine!
The Bligh Government has recognised the outstanding achievements of two women from West Queensland – with the duo named as finalists in some of Queensland’s most prestigious awards
Minister for Women Margaret Keech is delighted to announce Kylie Hutley and Eleanor Logan are in the running for the Smart Women Smart State Awards 2008.
“Congratulations to these two amazing ladies for their commitment to their communities,” Mrs Keech said.
“The Bligh Government is improving services and by supporting and encouraging people to excel we continue grow and improve Queensland,”
Both these outstanding West Queensland women are finalist for the Minister’s new Community Innovation Award that recognises Indigenous women’s innovation and commitment.
“The awards are part of the State Government’s Smart Women - Smart State Strategy and have recognised the achievements of Queensland women for the past six years,” Mrs Keech said.
Ms Hutley is a finalist for her Surf ‘n Turf Life Skills Program and Eleanor is a finalist for her involvement with Warrgoobulginda Child Care Centre.
“This recognition of around seven years of hard work that has given our children a boost towards school and pride in themselves,” Ms Hutley said
The winners of the Smart Women - Smart State Awards 2008 will be announced at a ceremony being held at the State Library of Queensland in Brisbane on 2 September 2008.
