Mackay, Northern Beaches & Sarina all on Bligh Cabinet agenda
Reinforcing the State’s commitment to a new Mackay and building and rebuilding the region’s infrastructure have the Bligh Cabinet heading to Mackay.
Premier Anna Bligh, her Cabinet and all the State’s top public servants will be in the Mackay region for the two-day Community Cabinet (Sun 31 Aug & Mon1 Sept).
“It’s about keeping in touch – hearing what locals have to say, on their turf and on their terms,” said the Premier.
“Local MPs Tim Mulherin and Jan Jarratt have lobbied hard for this. It is the ideal opportunity for individuals, groups and organisations to put their issues and concerns to me, my ministers and the Department Directors-General,” she said.
Member for Mackay and Primary Industries Minister Tim Mulherin said the last time Cabinet was in Mackay was March 2006.
“These two days are the best opportunity for local residents to raise issues one-on-one with the State’s key decision-makers,” he said.
Ms Jarratt said that the Sunday Community Forum would be held at the Holy Spirit College, Baxter Drive, Mount Pleasant, Mackay from 1pm.
“It’s important the Premier, Cabinet and State’s key decision-makers hear first-hand issues of concern. Everyone’s welcome. Come along and have a chat over a cuppa,” she said.
Parliamentary Secretaries and department D-Gs will take deputations in Sarina on the Monday, at Sarina Cultural Hall, Anzac Street, Sarina from 9.30am.
Cabinet proper will meet in Mackay on the Monday from 9.30am.
