Primary producers visiting this year’s Ekka can drop into the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries’ new mobile office for advice on all things agricultural.
Minister for Primary Industries and Fisheries Tim Mulherin said the Ekka stop-over was part of a statewide tour by the mobile office delivering DPI&F services and products to primary producers.
“It’s part of our fresh approach to bringing our expertise directly to those who needed up to date industry advice and access to departmental services,” he said.
“Over the past month, it has toured southern Queensland visiting towns such as Crows Nest, Chinchilla, Cecil Plains, Stanthorpe and Warwick.
“Now we’re bringing this unique service to the Ekka, so country visitors can speak face to face with DPI&F staff about issues that affect them.
“We’ll be offering specialist advice and guidance and provide access to high quality services and products that might not otherwise be available in their home town.”
Mr Mulherin said the mobile office was fully equipped to deliver a wide range of quality products and services.
“Wireless capability and onboard equipment will provide access to real-time lodgment and processing of applications and enquiries,” he said.
“It will also deliver educational and training tools in areas such as biosecurity and legislative requirements.”
Other services include beef extension and industry services; QRAA information; environmental and resource management; farm financial counseling; biosecurity and fisheries legal requirements; National Livestock Identification System information and training; property registration; drought assistance; and internet training.
The mobile office is part of DPI&F’s new fresh approach initiative based on: building skills for our future; attracting investment into agricultural science; and, networking and modernising services.
Natural Resources and Water will also offer services from the mobile office.
