Toowoomba Base Hospital treating all urgent emergency department patients on time

New statistics for the first nine months of 2007/08 reveal 100% of the most urgent emergency department patients at Toowoomba Base Hospital were seen within the recommended time.

Health Minister Stephen Robertson has welcomed the latest figures showing all Category 1 emergency department presentations at the hospital were seen within clinically desirable limits.

“The latest available statistics show 100% Category 1 patients presenting at Toowoomba Base Hospital were seen within the recommended time,” he said.

“These figures reflect the Bligh Government’s commitment to ensuring Queenslanders have access to the best possible health care facilities, no matter where they live, and the priority given to the most serious cases in need of urgent medical treatment.

“Pressures on emergency departments are growing as the State’s population continues to boom, but we’re investing record amounts to ensure our hospitals can cope with the increased number of emergency department presentations.”

Statewide, 98% of Category 1 emergency department presentations were treated within the recommended time.
