$1 million boost for community service centre in Dalby

The Queensland Government is offering community groups in the Dalby region a million dollar ‘helping hand’, with plans to establish a multi-tenant service centre in the town.

Communities Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr said the Dalby Multi-Tenant Service Centre would house several non-government organisations that provide a range of essential services to the local community.

“Dalby Regional Council will receive funding of over $1000,000 to establish the centre on Crown Land in Diplock Park, at the corner of Drayton and Nicholson Streets,” she said.

“The Dalby Rural Multi-Tenant Service Centre is destined to become a bustling, vibrant hub, providing support and advice for individuals and families alike.

“The centre will be operated by the Myall Youth and Community Network, and it will act as a one-stop-shop for a wide range of community services; including family assistance, counselling, support groups, referrals, legal and tenancy advice, vocational training and community transport.”

Ms Nelson-Carr said funding for the centre was provided as part of the Queensland Government’s $24.3 million Strengthening Non-Government Organisations project, with the centre expected to open by June 30 next year.

“This project is designed to provide practical and financial support to improve the efficiency of community-based organisations,” she said.

“By building a strong non-government service sector, we can assist local organisations to develop local solutions to local issues.

“This project is not just about strengthening non-government organisations; it’s about strengthening Queensland communities.

“It means they can build on community strengths and capitalise on the broad range of resources and experience available in their own backyard.”
