Sea Patrol star swaps high seas to flash the ‘red card’: Minister

Communities and Multicultural Affairs Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr has announced Sea Patrol actor Ditch Davey will join a celebrity-studded team for the Queensland Roars Against Racism soccer game at Suncorp Stadium this Saturday, July 12.

The Roars Against Racism celebrity match is the curtain-raiser to the international game between Queensland Roar FC and Brazilian football team, the Palmeiras.

Ms Nelson-Carr said the Queensland actor was one of many celebrities, politicians, business leaders and community representatives who will be on the field to entertain the crowds and give racism the boot.

“It’s great to have Ditch Davey back to lend his name and on-field skill to this fun game which is all about enforcing the message that there’s no room for racism in Queensland,” she said.

“Having a high profile actor like Ditch make time in his busy schedule to support this important Queensland Government campaign is wonderful.

“Ditch was the leading goal scorer last year, so I’m anticipating another strong game from him this time around.”

Mr Davey said he was pleased to be supporting the anti-racism campaign – and he’s already warming up.

“Both the celebrity and international matches promote understanding and help spread the message that racism is destructive,” Mr Davey said.

“The games are a lot of fun and great entertainment for the whole family.”

The Roars Against Racism celebrity curtain-raiser will kick off at 5.15pm before the main game at 7pm.
