Minister for Natural Resources and Water and Minister Assisting the Premier in North Queensland
The Honourable Craig Wallace
FLOOD OF INFORMATION FOR EMERALD LANDHOLDERS
New research which includes best management practices for local flood prone areas will be showcased at this year’s Ag-Grow Field Days in Emerald this week.
The Bligh Government will display the latest research evaluating the impact of the Emerald floods at the field days on July 10 to 12.
Natural Resources and Water Minister Craig Wallace said Bligh Government’s Natural Resources and Water exhibit would display a series of flood-related maps at the field days, including rainfall and flood inundation information.
"The display will feature a range of tools and technologies used to capture natural resource management information across the region,’’ he said.
Mr Wallace said the aim of the display was to provide the public with a behind-the-scenes look at the extensive work carried out by NRW.
The Queensland Government’s NRW display will also provide information on land and vegetation including information on the Delbessie Agreement and the latest pasture monitoring information.
"This year's display will demonstrate not only how the Bligh Government is planning for the future, but how the general public can do the same," he said.
"The Bligh Government will also host a series of specific displays of water metering and monitoring equipment and provide a host of useful information on both topics.’’
The display is located at site K4 at this year’s Ag-Grow Field Days. The event is held on the Capricorn Highway, about 5km east of Emerald.
