The Honourable Craig Wallace
MINISTER ASKS FOR DEPARTMENT HEAD TO HOLD WATER TALKS WITH WOORABINDA COUNCIL
Natural Resources and Water Minister Craig Wallace today said he had asked the head of the Department of Natural Resources and Water, Scott Spencer, to meet next week with Woorabinda Council to discuss providing irrigation water for the Woorabinda Pastoral Company (WPC).
Mr Wallace said Mr Spencer had an offer to make to WPC.
“I am sympathetic to Woorabinda Council’s desire to get a secure irrigation allocation,” he said.
“I congratulate them for trying to create economic opportunities for the community by assisting WPC.
“Natural Resources and Water has been working with the Council, providing advice on how council can get an irrigation allocation.”
WPC is wholly owned by Woorabinda Council and operates grazing, farming and share farming activities on five properties north of Duaringa. The main property is known as Foleyvale.
Mr Spencer is the Government Champion for the Woorabinda community.
