Workshops seek women’s views on the rural lifestyle
The Queensland Government is seeking women’s views on life in rural communities in the lead-up to the inaugural Rural Women’s Symposium to be held in Roma during August.
The theme of the symposium is ‘Liveability – A Woman’s View’ and the aim is to develop ideas to attract and retain women in rural communities.
A series of 23 consultation workshops is planned around regional Queensland to gather a cross-section of viewpoints to shape the agenda for the symposium.
Women living in the Mt Isa area can have their say at a workshop to be held at Terrace Gardens, 4 Duchess Road on 8 July 2008.
To register, simply contact the Office of Rural and Regional Communities on 4799 5532.
Anyone who is unable to attend the workshop can still participate by completing a questionnaire available online at www.localgovernment.qld.gov.au, via email at blueprint@dlgsr.qld.gov.au, or by calling 1800 136 851 (toll free).
The workshops and symposium are part of the government’s Blueprint for the Bush strategy, which aims to create strong and sustainable rural communities across Queensland.
