Bowen benefits from Blueprint for the Bush funding
The Bowen community will benefit from the latest round of Blueprint for the Bush funding, announced today by Local Government Minister Warren Pitt.
Mr Pitt and Member for Whitsunday Jan Jarratt said the Girudala Community Co-operative Society would receive $20,000 to update the current Bowen Community Development Plan.
“The Queensland Government’s Blueprint for the Bush – Strengthening Rural Communities program offers grants to help rural communities develop and implement projects to improve community capacity, access to transport services and the image of rural areas,” Mr Pitt said.
“Today, I am pleased to announce that the Bowen community will receive $20,000 through round three of the Our Place, Our Future initiative, which is part of the Strengthening Rural Communities program.”
This is one of 21 projects throughout Queensland to receive a total of $604,000 in this round of funding.
Ms Jarratt said the Our Place, Our Future program aimed to strengthen and enhance the relationships between rural and urban areas, as well as building the networks and support needed to attract and retain skilled workers.”
“The State Government is strongly committed to building strong and sustainable communities across rural and remote Queensland,” Ms Jarratt said.
"One of the Blueprint’s major goals is for communities to be viable and strong, so it is important that they have access to funding initiatives such as these.”
