Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
Western Queensland benefits from Blueprint for the Bush funding
Rural communities in western Queensland will benefit from the latest round of Blueprint for the Bush funding, announced today by Local Government Minister Warren Pitt.
Mr Pitt said the region would share in more than $89,000 in State Government funding towards key local community projects.
“The government’s Blueprint for the Bush – Strengthening Rural Communities program offers grants to help rural communities develop and implement projects to improve community capacity, access to transport services and the image of rural areas,” Mr Pitt said.
“Today, I am pleased to announce that western communities will receive $89,320 through round three of the Our Place, Our Future initiative, which is part of the Strengthening Rural Communities program.
“Our Place, Our Future aims to strengthen and enhance the relationships between rural and urban areas, as well as building the networks and support needed to attract and retain skilled workers.”
Mt Pitt said the successful projects were:
• $52,320 for Blackall-Tambo Regional Council to employ a consultant to implement the Tambo Urban Design Strategy and Sports Plan
• $37,000 for the Central Western Queensland Remote Area Planning and Development Board to employ a co-ordinator to manage the development of the Aramac Prep, Kindergarten and Child Care Centre.
“The State Government is strongly committed to building strong and sustainable communities across rural and remote Queensland,” Mr Pitt said.
"One of the Blueprint's major goals is for communities to be viable and strong, so it is important that they have access to funding initiatives such as these.”
"Our ongoing investment through the program helps to deliver practical measures to address rural community development issues, assist effective community engagement and help implement existing community plans."
