PREMIER TEES OFF A$15 MILLION TURF DEAL

NEVADA, USA: The grass will be greener on the other side… of the world, thanks to a Queensland company that has recently landed a multi-million dollar contract to supply turf solutions for two high-end resort golf courses in the USA.

Premier Anna Bligh today announced that Gold Coast-based Turf Solutions International had signed a five-year A$15million contract with US company, Harrahs Entertainment Inc to supply turf and management solutions for the Rio Secco and Cascata golf courses in Nevada.

Visiting Nevada today as part of a trade mission to the USA, Ms Bligh congratulated Turf Solutions.

“The new contract covers supply of turf products and ongoing maintenance for both of these prestigious golf courses listed in the top 100 resort courses in the USA,” Ms Bligh said.

“To illustrate the prestige of these resorts, the 18-hole Rio Secco golf course is home to Butch Harmon’s School of Golf, which provides tutoring for many of the world’s top golfers.

“Turf Solutions International first worked with Harrahs Entertainment, the world’s largest casino group and owners of the famous Caesar’s Palace, in Las Vegas. In 2006 they won a contract to consult and maximise efficiencies for golf course management.

“Securing this latest contract is a strong endorsement of Turf Solutions’ world-class technology and ability in the area of turf and lawn establishment and management.

“It is a prime example of Smart State technology and know-how at work, revolutionising a long-established industry.”

Turf Solutions International is recognised as a global expert in managing golf courses in an environmentally sustainable way, and have won many awards internationally for their work.

Ms Bligh said that big, international contracts are ‘par for the course’ for Turf Solutions International. The company also recently signed a 12-month consulting contract to oversee operations at a new course at the Orient Macau Golf Club in Hong Kong and added Atlantic City Country Club in New Jersey to its portfolio of clients.

Turf Solutions International has undertaken several other successful projects overseas including The Dukes Golf Course at St Andrews in Scotland, the Ambrosiano in Milan, Les Bordes in France’s Loire Valley, and also Liphook in London.

Turf Solutions International took out the Agribusiness Award in the 2005 Gold Coast Region Export Awards after winning a major contract in Dubai and continues to consult to a range of golf courses throughout Australia.
