Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt

Work on Moggill Road restarts this week

Main Roads has restarted work this week on the upgrade of Moggill Road between Kilkivan Avenue and Pullenvale Road.

Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt thanked local residents and motorists for their patience during the construction delay.

"We appreciate the understanding that local residents and motorists have shown during this delay,” Mr Pitt said.

“Main Roads has been working hard to get construction back on track, and I’m pleased to announce it will be business as usual from next week.”

Works on the upgrade were originally delayed when the project’s contractor appointed an administrator last month.

Mr Pitt said every effort would be made to fast-track the remaining work.

“Upgrading this section of Moggill Road is a priority project,” he said. “Main Roads hopes to have all work finished by the end of 2008, weather permitting.”

Once completed, the upgrade will offer a range of benefits for motorists and the local community, including increased safety, increased road capacity, reduced congestion and better pedestrian access.

Motorists and residents can visit the Main Roads website at www.mainroads.qld.gov.au for construction updates.
