Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
Binge drinking to be discussed at Kawana ministerial forum
Binge drinking will be on the agenda when the next Ministerial Regional Community Forum for the Sunshine Coast comes to Kawana on Monday 16 June.
Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology, Robert Schwarten and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer Julie Attwood, are scheduled to attend the forum.
Main Roads and Local Government Minister Warren Pitt said the two parliamentarians would discuss the issue of binge drinking with regional representatives known as forum members.
“I encourage anyone interested in these local issues to attend as part of the public audience and listen to the views of forum members and the attending members of Parliament,” Mr Pitt said.
The forum will take place at Lake Kawana Community Centre, Sportsmans Parade, Kawana from 11am. A pre-forum workshop will also be held from 9am before the forum.
Ministerial Regional Community Forums have been held since 1999 and are conducted up to four times a year in regions across Queensland.
The public meetings bring together Cabinet ministers and appointed regional leaders to share information and discuss topics relevant to the region.
“The forums enable the Queensland Government to keep in touch with communities and to be better informed about regional issues of concern,” Mr Pitt said.
