Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
Living in Gulf area to be discussed at Normanton forum
Living in the Carpentaria Shire will be on the agenda when the next Ministerial Regional Community Forum for north Queensland is held in Normanton on Monday 16 June.
Main Roads and Local Government Minister Warren Pitt and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs Michael Choi are scheduled to attend the forum.
Mr Pitt said Queensland Government ministers and members of Parliament would discuss the issue of living in the Carpentaria Shire and post-hospital support for families of babies born with a disability with regional representatives, known as forum members.
“I encourage anyone interested in these local issues to attend as part of the public audience and listen to the views of forum members and the attending members of Parliament,” Mr Pitt said.
The forum will take place at Carpentaria Shire Hall, Landsborough Street, Normanton, from 9.30am.
Ministerial Regional Community Forums have been held since 1999 and are conducted up to four times a year in regions across Queensland.
The public meetings bring together Cabinet ministers and appointed regional leaders to share information and discuss topics relevant to the region.
“The forums enable the Queensland Government to keep in touch with communities and to be better informed about regional issues of concern,” Mr Pitt said.
