Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt

Special domestic violence court to be discussed at Southport forum

A specialised domestic violence court for Southport will be on the agenda at the Ministerial Regional Community Forum for the Gold Coast at Southport on Monday 16 June.

Attorney General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine and Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier Phil Reeves are scheduled to attend the forum.

Main Roads and Local Government Minister Warren Pitt, who is responsible for Ministerial Regional Community Forums, said the two parliamentarians would discuss the issue of a specialised domestic violence court for Southport with regional representatives, known as forum members.

“I encourage anyone interested in these local issues to attend as part of the public audience and listen to the views of forum members and the attending members of Parliament,” Mr Pitt said.

The forum will take place at Southport RSL Memorial Club from 9.30am.

Ministerial Regional Community Forums have been held since 1999 and are conducted up to four times a year in regions across Queensland.

The public meetings bring together Cabinet ministers and appointed regional leaders to share information and discuss topics relevant to the region.

“The forums enable the Queensland Government to keep in touch with communities and be better informed about regional issues of concern,” Mr Pitt said.
