Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
Mining impacts to be discussed at Chillagoe ministerial forum
The impacts of increased mining activity on small-town infrastructure and services will be on the agenda at the far north Queensland Ministerial Regional Community Forum in Chillagoe on Monday 16 June.
Minister for Communities, Disability Services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Multicultural Affairs, Seniors and Youth Lindy Nelson-Carr and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations Gary Fenlon are scheduled to attend the forum.
Main Roads and Local Government Minister Warren Pitt, who has responsibility for Ministerial Regional Community Forums across the state, said Queensland Government ministers and members of Parliament would discuss the impacts of increased mining activity with regional representatives, known as forum members.
“I encourage anyone interested in these local issues to attend as part of the public audience and listen to the views of forum members and the attending members of Parliament,” Mr Pitt said.
The forum will take place at Chillagoe Town Hall, Queen Street, Chillagoe, from 10am.
Ministerial Regional Community Forums have been held since 1999 and are conducted regularly in regions across Queensland.
The public meetings bring together Cabinet ministers and appointed regional leaders to share information and discuss topics relevant to the region.
“The forums enable the Queensland Government to keep in touch with communities and be better informed about regional issues of concern,” Mr Pitt said.
