Disaster assistance activated for Gympie Regional Council area
The Queensland Government has activated disaster assistance for the Gympie Regional Council following storm activity last weekend Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts said initial assessments of damage following recent severe weather caused found more than $450,000 damage to local roads in the Gympie Regional Council area. Mr Roberts said the Department of Emergency Services has recommended to activate the jointly funded State-Commonwealth Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) assistance for the restoration of essential public assets, primarily roads, and counter-disaster costs incurred by council.
