Queensland to establish new business links with Thailand

Queensland businesses have formed a new group to build closer trading relationships with Thailand.

Minister for Trade John Mickel congratulated business leaders who had come together to establish the Queensland Thailand Business Partnership.

“The development of closer ties with businesses in Thailand can only help to build and grow mutually beneficial trade relationships with Queensland,” Mr Mickel said.

“The group plans to meet on a bi-monthly basis and will host regular networking events and functions for visiting business delegations and dignitaries. Future overseas missions to Thailand are also a possibility.

“This business group, with Thailand’s Honorary Consul-General to Queensland as an executive member, will be able to share an understanding of Thailand’s current business environment and requirements with our Smart State businesses,” he said.

Trade Queensland’s new Special Representative to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, Bob Quinn, pledged to work closely with and support the foundation membership of the Queensland Thailand Business Partnership.

“This new group will be a valuable networking vehicle to help promote Queensland exports in this dynamic market,” Mr Quinn said.
