The Honourable Desley Boyle
Gold Coast business operators get valuable advice from workshops
Gold Coast small business operators are invited to attend a series of workshops starting this month to help businesses bid for government business and learn how to get most from their business planning.
The Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry’s Gold Coast Centre has two workshops on offer in June for locals wanting to improve their practices.
Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Desley Boyle said Tendering for Government Business was designed for suppliers and potential suppliers to the government who were required to complete formal offer documents.
“The half-day workshop will demonstrate how to complete the tender documents used by government departments and agencies for high value goods and services,” Ms Boyle said.
“Participants who attend this workshop will also learn how to interpret and respond to the standard terms and conditions contained in government tender documents.”
Ms Boyle said such paperwork could sometimes seem excessive and overly complicated, but participants would learn a great deal by working through each section of the required documentation.
“By doing this they will gain a greater understanding of why the documents must be completed,” she said.
Tendering for Government Business costs $33 (inc GST) to attend and will be held on 10 June from 9.00am-1.00pm at the Gold Coast Institute of The Connaught Centre, 26 Marine Parade, Southport.
Director for the Department’s Gold Coast Centre Tracey Gilmore said running a business could be very demanding making some businesses neglect to evaluate their operations, which was why the workshops proved really valuable.
“In Getting The Most From Your Business Planning, participants should have a clear understanding of the concepts of competitive advantage, unique selling proposition, cash flow statements and budgets,” Ms Gilmore said.
“Those who have that understanding will get the most from the workshop as they can identify and discuss the Business Process Planning Model and use the business planning tools,” she said.
“From there attendees can develop a tailored action plan and identify Critical Success Factors (CSF’s) targeted specifically for their business.”
Getting The Most From Your Business Planning costs $33 (inc GST) to attend and will be held on 20 June from 9.00-12.00pm at the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE, Gold Coast Marine Precinct, Unit 10/71 Shipper Drive, Coomera.
