New appointments to Non-State Schools Accreditation Board
Education and Training Minister Rod Welford today announced two new appointments to the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board.
Mr Welford said former teacher and Queensland Parliamentary Secretary Darryl Briskey and Education Queensland Assistant Director General Jenny Haddrell would replace outgoing Board members Patricia Evans and Jenny Cranston respectively.
“I am confident the new appointees, like their predecessors, will make an important contribution to the Board’s work in accrediting non-state schools and upholding excellence in education in this sector,” Mr Welford said.
“Mr Briskey, a former teacher, has held a number of key Government roles, including working as a former Parliamentary Secretary to Premier Peter Beattie, while Ms Haddrell’s educational roles include former principal and Regional Executive Director.
“I also acknowledge the significant contribution education and corporate consultant Patricia Evans and Education Queensland’s Deputy Director-General Jenny Cranston have made to the Board.”
Mr Welford said senior departmental executive Mr Jeff Hunt had also been appointed to the Non-State Schools Eligibility for Government Funding Committee, replacing Ms Rita Logan, a former senior departmental executive.
“I thank outgoing members for their support for this accreditation and funding framework for non-state schools and congratulate the new appointees,” Mr Welford said.
“By contributing their experience, expertise and knowledge, they are upholding the Board’s values which include integrity, objectivity, impartiality, independence, respect, credibility and transparency.
“They are also helping to shape a bright future for non-state schooling in this state and further enhancing educational opportunities for Queensland students.”
The current accreditation and funding framework for Queensland’s non-state schools was introduced by the Education (Accreditation of Non-State Schools) Act 2001.
