Are you considering starting a new business? Or perhaps trying your luck in overseas markets?

Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Minister Desley Boyle and State Member for Springwood Barbara Stone said this month the Brisbane Southside Centre had three workshops on offer for locals wanting to expand their horizons.

Ms Stone said starting out in business could seem a daunting task, which was why the workshops proved really valuable.

“In Considering a Business, participants will have the opportunity hear from a variety of experts who will cover key issues to consider before commencing a business,” Ms Stone said.

“Those attending will also be provided with a ‘Research Workbook’, which will assist them in their business decision making after they leave the workshop.”

Considering a Business is free to attend and will be held on 29 April at the Brisbane Southside Regional Office, 6 Paxton Street, Springwood, from 9.30am -12.30pm and on 30 April at the same venue from 6pm – 8.30pm.

Export Marketing is another workshop on offer during April, and Director of the Department’s Brisbane Southside Centre Steve Moorhouse said it would assist local businesses explore different options available when exporting.

“The workshop is really worthwhile as it teaches participants how to evaluate and analyse potential export partners as well as targeting distribution logistics from a marketing perspective,” Mr Moorhouse said.

Export Marketing will also cover legal considerations such as the IP and contract issues associated with exporting to overseas markets.

“Whether you’re thinking of exporting your product or service, or are already in the process I encourage you to attend the workshop. It will prove a valuable experience.”

The workshop will be held on 15 April from 12.30pm to 5pm. Export Marketing costs $33 to attend and will be held at the Brisbane Technology Park, Clunies Ross Conference Centre, Miles Platting Road, Eight Mile Plains.
