The Honourable Warren Pitt

Safety improvements to Blackbutt Range start soon

Work to improve motorists' safety and provide a smoother surface on the Blackbutt Range Road will start this month (March).

Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt said the $215,000 project would widen and seal several sections along the D'Aguilar Highway's Blackbutt Range section, 25km east of Yarraman, to provide four emergency rest areas.

"This is an important link for the freight industry in the South Burnett region,” Mr Pitt said.

“The work will improve safety for heavy vehicle operators and motorists travelling this route by providing a wider, smoother surface, improved signage and guardrails."

Mr Pitt said Esk Shire Council would carry out the work, which should be completed by the end of June.

"We ask motorists be patient and observe roadworks signs during the works for their own safety and for the safety of road workers," he said.
