Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry
The Honourable Desley Boyle

Ipswich business operators are encouraged to contact their local Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Centre for assistance to grow and improve their businesses.

At the Ipswich Rail Museum for Community Cabinet today, Regional Development and Industry Minister Desley Boyle said her department’s centre offered a wide range of services to drive business forward and promote economic growth.

“A large percentage of the Ipswich regions’ total labour force is employed in small business, which is making a significant contribution to the local economy,” Ms Boyle said.

“It is important that we support businesses and help them to grow and prosper,” she said.

Member for Ipswich West Wayne Wendt said: “There are around 8000 businesses in the Ipswich area.

“The major industries include aerospace, manufacturing and food, which have all been identified by the Queensland Government as priority sectors.

“The government offers a range of services to anyone running a business or thinking of starting a business.”

Mr Wendt said the Ipswich centre for the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry could help with:
• Starting up a new business
• Export and investment opportunities
• Building and improving business
• Advancing major projects
• Identifying joint venture opportunities.

In addition, it offers support for clients via many other products and services such as business skills training, workshops and seminars, helpful fact sheets, business benchmarking, tender information, licensing and retail shop leasing.

Many of these services are also accessible online at www.business.qld.gov.au. For more information, contact the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry’s Ipswich Centre on 3280 1943.
