Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
Gympie Road will get a facelift next month, when work begins to resurface sections between Sparkes Street at Chermside and Leckie Road at Kedron.
Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt said the $3.1 million project would make the road safer for motorists.
"Providing a new asphalt surface for this 2.5km section will make a real difference to the safety and quality of the road surface for motorists," Mr Pitt said.
“Nearly 40,000 vehicles use this section of Gympie Road each day. This resurfacing work will help protect the road against this daily wear and tear, and maintain a good surface for motorists.”
The project consists of an asphalt overlay and new line-marking. The kerb will also be raised and drainage in the area upgraded to cater for the new surface.
Downer EDI Works will start work on the project in March, weather permitting, with completion due by the end of May 2008.
