Rockhampton locals put their hands up for free business workshops
Those wishing to improve their business know-how should take advantage of the free high-performance workshops on offer this month at the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry’s Rockhampton Centre.
Regional Development and Industry Minister Desley Boyle and Member for Rockhampton Robert Schwarten said Introduction to Lean Manufacturing was a hands-on workshop which allows participants to learn through interactive presentations and practical exercises.
“I encourage Rockhampton businesses to consider attending to see if there are ways they can do things better,” Ms Boyle said.
Mr Schwarten said: “This workshop focuses on eliminating inefficient activities in all areas of an organisation which can lead to increased work efficiency, staff involvement and customer satisfaction”.
Held on the 19 February, the Introduction to Lean Manufacturing workshop gives participants an introduction to the Toyota Production System, Lean Manufacturing tools and exposure to the lean transformation process.
Participants will take away five lean principles which they can implement in their own businesses to achieve greater success.
The second workshop will be held on 26 February and will assist business operators in managing the visual aspects of their workplace.
“The Visual Workplace workshop will demonstrate how a world class organisation is structured and how to identify the roles for people at different levels in the organisation,” Mr Schwarten said.
Phil Henry Acting Director of the Department’s Rockhampton Centre said: “Business operators who attend will also receive an introduction to mini business records and be shown how shop floor staff can assist in achieving key business outcomes.”
Both workshops are on from 5pm-7.30pm at Block C, Central Queensland TAFE, Canning Street, Rockhampton.
For more information, or to book for any of the workshops, contact the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Centre in Rockhampton on (07) 4938 4572 or visit www.dtrdi.qld.gov.au/rockhampton
