The Honourable Judy Spence
People’s Day at Skilled Park close to a full house
Sport Minister Judy Spence today said tickets to the Queensland Government People’s Day at Skilled Park were close to being all allocated, just over a week since becoming available to the public.
Ms Spence said the interest from Gold Coasters wanting to see the Queensland Government’s Skilled Park, the new home of the Gold Coast Titans, had been incredible.
“As expected, footy fans have signed up for tickets in droves to see the newly constructed $160 million Skilled Park at Robina on February 17,” she said.
“Over 16,000 tickets have been snapped up to the official opening of Australia’s newest stadium.
“There are only a few thousand tickets remaining.
“To avoid disappointment I encourage those wanting to attend People’s Day to secure their ticket from a Ticketek office or www.ticketek.com.au as soon as possible.
“This is a great result and a strong indication as to the support for the Queensland Government’s stadium and the Titans.”
“There are only 20,000 tickets available to the public because the People’s Day will not be like a normal game day.
“On a normal day people will make their way to their seats, watch the game, and then most fans will leave straight away.
“On the People’s Day, instead of staying in their seats, fans will be moving around a lot through the internal thoroughfares to have a good look around at all aspects of the stadium.
“I don’t want their enjoyment spoiled by the thoroughfares being too crowded.
This first event gives stadium management the opportunity to test Skilled Park’s systems and procedures.
“Those attending People’s Day will play an important role in commissioning the Stadium, as we put the Queensland Government’s Skilled Park through its paces,” Ms Spence said.
“This is a great way to test out the systems and we thank in advance Gold Coasters for their willingness to help us in this way.”
Ms Spence said tickets for the Titans trial match against the Wests Tigers on March 1 are now on sale.
“This will be the first match to be played at Skilled Park and is one of the most anticipated trial matches in Rugby League history,” she said.
Ms Spence reminded ticket holders to catch public transport to Skilled Park.
“Fans coming to People’s Day just need to show their event ticket as they board the bus or train to travel free to Skilled Park,” she said.
“The traffic management plan will be operational and there is no car parking in the stadium precinct.
“Public transport is the best way to get your team to the People’s Day.”
