Minister for Emergency Services
The Honourable Neil Roberts
Emergency Services team the best in the country
Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts says response times for both the Queensland Ambulance Service and the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service are among the best in the nation.
The Report on Government Services, released by the Productivity Commission last week, revealed Queensland’s ambulance Code One response times better than any other state.
“Data from the ROGS report said our officers responded to 50% of cases in just eight-point-two minutes,” Mr Roberts said.
“Only the ACT can match that, a territory 785 times smaller than Queensland with 25 times less demand.”
“Not only that, but 97% of patients surveyed are either very satisfied or satisfied with the response.
“I congratulate our ambulance officers on their superb efforts. Queenslanders demand an excellent ambulance service and that’s exactly what they’re getting.”
Mr Roberts said the State Government spends more money on ambulance services per 1000 people than any other.
The Audit commissioned by the Government, the recommendations of which have been released and are currently being implemented, will ensure those funds continue to enhance frontline service delivery.
Mr Roberts said the Fire Service had also produced first-class results.
“The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service responds to 50% of cases in just six-point-nine minutes, well under the benchmark of 14 minutes.
“That’s second-only among the states to Victoria.
“Our overall response rate is 97.6% of calls responded to within the 14 minute benchmark.
“We’ve also seen in recent weeks the fantastic efforts of Emergency Management Queensland and the State Emergency Services in responding to the flood crisis.
“Queensland is fortunate to have such a highly skilled, highly dedicated and highly professional Emergency Services team to rely on.
“On behalf of the state I thank them for their efforts in keeping Queenslanders safe.”
