Wayne - thanks for the leadership and the six premierships: Bligh
Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said today’s announcement that Wayne Bennett is the end of a truly great era.
“Six NRL premierships in 20 years says it all. Most coaches dream of one and he got six.
“He will be sorely missed,” said Ms Bligh.
“But there needs to be change and renewal and after 20 years it will be good for both Wayne and the club.
“He is a Queensland Great and he has helped so many people – not just Broncos and footballers,” said Ms Bligh, a Gold Coast Titans fan.
“His efforts with his family – as shown on The Australian Story – have inspired hundreds of thousands.
“I wish him and his family well in whatever he chooses to do,” said the Premier.
