Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel

Have your say on Western Brisbane Transport Network

Public input is being sought into the Western Brisbane Transport Network investigation with information displays at shopping centres this month.

The Minister for Transport John Mickel has encouraged residents to have their say on the study and help guide the development of the transport network for the western area of greater Brisbane for the next 20 years and beyond.

"Community feedback is vital to this process and the displays allow the public to review the information being used in the study and to talk to the investigation team," Mr Mickel said.

Generally, western Brisbane is described as the area west of the Brisbane Central Business District, south to the Ipswich Motorway and Warrego Highway, north to Caboolture and west to the region of the Brisbane Valley Highway.

"In the next few months the study team will look at a wide range of transport scenarios to best meet the needs of western Brisbane," Mr Mickel said.

"I encourage local residents and people who travel on the roads, deliver freight, use buses and trains, or walk and cycle, to provide feedback on what western Brisbane's transport could look like in the future. Your comments will help us plan for a more efficient, reliable and faster transport network.

"Ultimately, the investigation will produce draft strategies that could guide the development of the transport system for western Brisbane for decades to come," Mr Mickel said.

The public information displays will be in shopping centres at Redbank, Strathpine, The Gap, Chermside, Esk, Indooroopilly and Toowong.

Displays and touch-screen kiosks will also be available at selected libraries this month.
