Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt
CMC finds no grounds to support claims by Friends of Noosa group
The Crime and Misconduct Commission has found no grounds to support a complaint by the Friends of Noosa against last year’s local government reform process.
Local Government Minister Warren Pitt said the Friends of Noosa had complained to the CMC that the process had been rigged, that the Local Government Reform Commission was not independent, and the council amalgamations it recommended had been predetermined in collusion with the State Government.
“The CMC has written to the Friends of Noosa rejecting their claims”, Mr Pitt said.
“The Friends of Noosa shouldn’t be surprised that the CMC has thrown their complaint out - they were unable to provide any evidence to back up their accusations.”
Mr Pitt said other opponents of the local government reforms, who had also accused the local government reform commission and the State Government of wrongdoing, should acknowledge and heed the CMC’s dismissal of the complaint.
