SUNSHINE COASTER HONOURED IN NATURAL RESOURCES AND WATER AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS

Sunshine Coast resident Greg Meyer was today congratulated by Natural Resources and Water Minister Craig Wallace for his outstanding 40-year career with the Department.

Mr Meyer received an Australia Day 2008 Achievement Medallion from Minister Wallace as part of the Department of Natural Resources and Water’s Australia Day honours system.

Greg Meyer, who joined the department as a Cadet Survey Draftsman in 1967, is the Manager, Customer Services, for the department in South East Queensland.

Beginning in an era of hand-drawn mapping, Mr Meyer progressed through the department to become Principal Cartographer and Operations Manager before being appointed to his current position in 2004.

His nomination was backed by high praise from the Minister.

“Greg’s high work ethic and personal integrity have been noted many times across his career by staff, peers and managers,” Mr Wallace said.

“His no-fuss, business-oriented approach have made him one of the department’s most approachable and respected managers, as evidenced by a recent ‘Best Boss’ award made by his own staff.

“Greg has excelled in both the areas of cartographic services and customer services and he continues to make a valuable contribution through his leadership of the Service Delivery Futures Project,” Mr Wallace said.
