NightLink services to get New Year’s revellers home

Plan ahead and take advantage of the late-night NightLink taxi and bus services to get home safely on New Year’s Eve.

Minister for Transport John Mickel said NightLink FlatFare taxi ranks would be open from 10pm while NightLink bus services have doubled to cater for the expected increase in people celebrating New Year’s Eve in the City.

``The party people of Brisbane like the convenient, affordable and safe alternative that NightLink public transport provides them,’’ he said.

``Experienced taxi marshals will be at NightLink FlatFare ranks from 10pm helping patrons form groups travelling to the same area.’’

Since its inception two years ago, the NightLink bus, train and taxi services have transported around 380,000 people.

Last December about 20,000 revellers boarded NightLink services to get home safely from the City and Fortitude Valley areas.

Again this year there will be extra services on selected bus routes to get people to and from the fireworks at Southbank.

NightLink buses will run every 30 minutes instead of every hour on New Year’s Eve until 5.30am.

QR Citytrain services will depart South Bank, South Brisbane, Roma Street, Central and Brunswick Street stations after the 9pm fireworks. Extra buses will operate on selected routes.
