Minister for Emergency Services
The Honourable Neil Roberts
QFRS to go to industrial commission
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) has requested the assistance of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission to resolve outstanding issues between the Service and the United Firefighters Union (UFU) regarding a recent Job Evaluation report.
This is the process that was agreed to by both parties under the current Enterprise Partnership Agreement.
“I hope these issues can be resolved amicably through the agreed processes in the Agreement," Mr Roberts said.
Today, the Department learned of threatened industrial action to commence over the Christmas/New year period on the part of the UFU, as indicated in the media by its president, Henry Lawrence.
At this time, the Department has no evidence of such action having commenced.
Mr Roberts has attempted to convene an early meeting with Mr Lawrence, but as yet has received no response.
