EPA introduces quick and easy camping payment options

Booking camping facilities at Queensland’s parks and forests is about to become easier and quicker with the introduction of a new payment system.

Minister for Sustainability Climate Change and Innovation, Andrew McNamara said Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is introducing a new system of ‘camping credits’.

”The camping credits are similar to a voucher system,” Mr McNamara said.

“You can buy camping credits in $45 (10 camper nights) and $90 (20 camper nights) amounts and they can be used within 12 months to pay both camping and vehicle access permits.

“Quite simply, it is an easier and quicker way of pre-paying for your camping.

“When you buy camping credits, you will be asked to provide an easy-to-remember password or special date which enables you to access and use your credits at any time.

“It means you won’t have to use your credit card and give your details every time you pay a camping fee. You can also use them at self registration sites in Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service managed areas.

“Frequent campers in particular will appreciate the convenience that these camping credits offer.

“Once you’ve got your camping credits you can start using them immediately.

“Camping credits would be ideal as a Christmas or birthday gift, and are a major benefit for people who do a lot of travelling and camping around this magnificent state of ours,” Mr McNamara said.

Camping credits can be bought and accessed in a variety of ways: on-line at www.qld.gov.au/camping, by phoning calling Smart Service Queensland on 13 13 04, over the counter at a number of district officers and at selected Visitor Information Centres.
