Brisbane Set To Sing In The Festive Season
Brisbane’s River Stage will begin to look a lot like Christmas tonight, as the city once again prepares to sing along to a host of favourite festive tunes at the second annual Carols in the City.
Presented by the City Tabernacle Baptist Church and proudly supported by the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council, the concert is guaranteed to stimulate the senses with some of Australia’s most talented performers.
Premier Anna Bligh said Carols in the City gives us all the chance to slow down and appreciate the spirit of Christmas.
“This outdoor concert, under the stars provides a truly Queensland way to celebrate the festive season with friends and family,” Ms Bligh said.
Starting at 7:30pm, the concert will feature a first-class line-up of Aussie entertainment to please all ages with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian and acclaimed jazz musician James Morrison spreading the Christmas cheer. Gates open at 5pm.
The line-up also inclues Marina Prior and Silvie Paladino, along with The Idea of North, Jason Barry-Smith, Voices of Birralee, Barrie Gott, the Queensland Pops Orchestra, Harvest Rain Theatre Company and Colin Buchanan.
An edited version of the event will also be telecast on Network Ten on Sunday 23 December 2007.
