Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry
The Honourable Desley Boyle
International tourism now worth $219 million to Sunny Coast
The Sunshine Coast was so hot it sizzled over the past year with overseas tourists spending an additional $31 million in the region, the latest International Visitor Survey (IVS) results show.
Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said the figures released today showed the Sunshine Coast picked up a 15 per cent increase in international visitors to 291,400 people in the year to September 2007, spending a total of $219 million.
At the same time, international visitor nights also increased by 11 per cent to 2.7 million nights.
“The Sunshine Coast continues to shine in the eyes of our international tourists,” Ms Boyle said.

“This is in no small part due to the hard work of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast operators who work tirelessly to present a world-class product to our overseas visitors.”
