Premier
The Honourable Anna Bligh
Premier Announces New Appointment
Premier Anna Bligh today announced that Mike Kaiser would become her Chief of Staff from January 2008.
Mr Kaiser, currently Chief of Staff to NSW Premier Morris Iemma, has been ALP State Secretary in Queensland, ALP Assistant National Secretary and a Member of the Queensland Parliament.
“I’m delighted that Mike has agreed to join my office as Chief of Staff,” Ms Bligh said.
“He has had the benefit of more than two years experience in the same strategic role in New South Wales, complementing the various political roles he has had in the past.
“Mike said when he went to NSW that he intended to come back to Queensland. I have been discussing the role with him for some time now and he formally accepted my offer last night.
“He has an excellent reputation for hard work and a terrific strategic mind. He will bring enormous experience and organisational expertise to my team.”
Ms Bligh thanked her current Chief of Staff Murray Watt for his outstanding service.
“Murray has done a terrific job but he made it clear when I took over as Premier that he could only stay for the transition period due to family reasons,” she said.
Mr Kaiser said he was really pleased to be given the opportunity to come home to Queensland.
“I am keen to play a significant role for a leader I have long admired and a Government that is doing great things for the people of Queensland.”
