QR achievements showcased in Sydney
The achievements of Queensland's passenger and freight rail network will be centre-stage at an international gathering of rail industry experts in Sydney this week.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations, Gary Fenlon will address the AusRail Plus 2007 Conference and Exhibition at the Sydney Convention Centre today.
The theme of his address 'The future for Rail in Queensland" will outline QR's diverse achievements in freight, coal and passenger rail services as well as outlining future developments through projects such as the creation of the Urban Transit Authority in 2008 and ongoing works under the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan.
"I welcome the opportunity to present the many achievements of QR and the Queensland government in advancing our state and Australia's transport requirements into the 21st century," Mr Fenlon said.
The conference, which runs for three days from December 4 to 6 will have over 200 exhibitors and 100 speakers, including 16 speakers from overseas.
Around 1000 attendees are expected from positions held at all levels in the rail transport industry, including rail customers, rail managers and operators, manufacturers and consultants to the rail industry, as well as government policy officers and regulators.
