Premier Bligh heading 'home' for Christmas
St Mary’s Hall in Warwick will play host to one of this year’s Premier’s Seniors Christmas Concert as Premier Anna Bligh heads home for the first in a two concert series held on 4 December.
Premier Bligh said she is excited to be celebrating the spirit of Christmas in the town of her birth and delighted to bring some Christmas cheer to the Rose City’s senior community.
“I am thrilled to be visiting the town where I was born and look forward to hosting this free concert for the senior community of Warwick,” Ms Bligh said.
“Christmas is a special occasion to come together and share in the spirit of the season with family and friends.
“Queenslanders celebrate Christmas in their own special way and I am delighted to invite seniors from Warwick to join me at the Christmas concert and enjoy some sing-alongs to our favourite carols, as well as some classic and contemporary tunes.”
Commencing in 2001, the concert series has been held in regional areas throughout Queensland, from as far west as Charters Towers, east to Hervey Bay, north to Townsville and south to Logan.
Led by professional musicians, the concert will also feature a special performance by students from Warwick Central State School.
There are two concerts in this year’s series, with the second being held on Thursday 13 December in Bundaberg.
The concert will be held at St Mary’s Hall, Wood Street, Warwick from 10.00am to 11.00am and will be followed by a morning tea with the Premier.
Entry to the concert is free, however places are limited. Seniors are encouraged to call (07) 3405 5215 to secure their place. Group bookings are welcome.
