Brisbane business honoured at national export awards

Minister for Trade John Mickel has congratulated a Brisbane company for receiving the top honour at the prestigious 2007 Australian Export Awards.

“Last night in Brisbane, Ausenco was inducted into the Australian Awards Hall of Fame. The company has done Queensland and the nation proud,’’ Mr Mickel said.

The Hall of Fame recognises companies that have achieved international business success at the highest level over many years and have won their Australian Export Award category three times.

"From its base at Eight Mile Plains Ausenco, has grown to become a global supplier of goods and services to the mining industry.

"This company has developed an international reputation for carrying out projects in remote locations with minimal infrastructure and difficult logistics, and have clients ranging from junior miners to some of the world's largest mining companies.’’

Ausenco provides innovative and cost effective solutions for the global mineral processing industry in areas such as preparation of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, engineering design and project services including management, cost control and scheduling.

Mr Mickel said Queensland companies were renowned for being innovative and proactive in driving the nation’s exports.

“We are proud that more than 40 per cent of the entrants in this year’s Australian Export Awards were from the Smart State.’’

“Exports are not only one of the best ways to create more jobs for Queenslanders, but a way to create good jobs because it takes a highly skilled and innovative workforce to make internationally competitive products,’’ Mr Mickel said.
