New culverts to provide greater flood immunity on Boonah-Fassifern Road

Boonah residents will soon reap the benefits of a $1.4 million culvert replacement project on Boonah Fassifern Road.

Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt said work on the project would start next week, approximately 200 metres east of the intersection with the Cunningham Highway.

"Main Roads is committed to maintaining and improving rural roads, and this is another good example of where we are meeting our commitments," Mr Pitt said.

"Once the new culverts are in, Boonah residents can look forward to increased flood immunity."

Mr Pitt said the replacement of the culverts was evidence of Main Roads' proactive approach to maintenance.

"Main Roads officers routinely assess the condition of our roads to make sure that what lies within the road corridor is up to standard," Mr Pitt said.

"In this case, while the existing culverts were still functional, we made a decision to upgrade to new culverts that will meet the needs of Boonah well into the future."

The culvert replacement project will start on Monday (weather permitting), and is expected to finish in late February.

The construction work will be undertaken by Boonah Shire Council on behalf of Main Roads.
