Minister for Emergency Services
The Honourable Neil Roberts
Esk SES Volunteer takes top honours
Esk State Emergency Service (SES) volunteer Kevin Ruthenberg has been named the South Eastern Region's SES Member of the Year.
Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts said Kevin had made a long-term contribution to the SES and had stood out in an impressive field of nominees.
“Kevin has been an active member of the SES for more than 24 years. His outstanding service, enthusiasm, and selfless approach to his duties as an SES volunteer make him a deserving recipient of the Member of the Year Award.
SES and Emergency Management Queensland Regional Director Eddie Bennett said Kevin was always willing to contribute and assist other volunteers in all areas of operation.
“Kevin’s work as a trainer and support officer and his outstanding service in the field make him a valuable asset to the SES and the community,” Mr Bennett said.
Mr Bennett said Beaudesert and Logan City units were also recognised, with the Beaudesert Unit being named the region’s Unit of the Year, and Logan City taking the award for the Operational Response of the Year.
“The Beaudesert Unit has been efficient in all areas of SES activity and has work tirelessly in the areas of recruitment and retention,” he said.
“Logan City SES received the Operational Response of the Year award for providing operational support over a three day period, including welfare, lighting and traffic control services following a serious truck rollover at Loganholme.”
Winners of the regional awards have been nominated for SES Week State awards, which will be presented at a ceremony in Brisbane on Sunday 18 November.
