Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel
The popular 199 bus service between New Farm and West End will run an extra 26 trips each weekday from Monday week (19 Nov).
Transport Minister John Mickel said the service was well patronised, and had become one of the most popular bus routes in Brisbane.
"Patronage on the 199 is up by an average of 16% on last year, or about double the average on the TransLink network," Mr Mickel said.
"People in Teneriffe and New Farm are doing the right thing and getting on public transport and I am very pleased their commitment is being rewarded with these new services.
"The 26 extra trips per week day being provided from 19 November will help to cater for the high demand for the 199 during peak times.
"That means in peak times there will be a 199 at least every eight minutes.
"At all other times there will be a 199 every 10 minutes."
The additional services have been established in a $350,000 package of changes to Brisbane bus services* starting on Monday week.
Improvements have been made on routes 305. 307, 320, 321, 323, 328 and 329, 335. 336 and 337, 344, 354 and 358, and 356. All details at www.translink.com.au or phone 13 12 30.
